| I see so much drama on the streets of the Bay Area it is mind boggeling at times. Many of our youth today suffer from post traumatic stress just as vietnam vets once did ,due to all of the violence they are surrounded by day to day. So..what shall we do? We gotta come up with a long range game plan to get our youth and people on track. Part of the reason is the crack cocaine epidemic wich desimated our neighborhoods and family structure. Crack destroyed much of the growing black middle class back in the 80's. Youth growing up in homes riddled with crack addiction lost respect for their parents thus lost respects for their elders as a whole. Sadly we are now in the second and third generation of this crack onslaught. We as "OG's" have to demand our respect back by showing the youth the right way to go. We have to get off and stay off the drugs!!(if not even use in the first place!) The main reason our youth have no or little respect for the older generation is that many "OG's" disrespected themselves while using drugs. We all know when a person is high they tend to make a dam fool of themselves. Magnify that 100X's when high off of crack. How doe's a son feel knowing his mama is turning tricks for a hit? How does a daughter feel knowing her daddy spent the rent money and sold the TV for a fix? We have alot of wounds to heal. I am writting this to start a dialouge,to get our braincells clicking on the right page. I have an idea for a 10 to 20 year plan that I feel could help our people get a hold of these problems,fill this generational gap and make our communities safer. more to come.......... |
